We tailor services to fit whatever accounting and bookkeeping needs you have. Core services are fundamental bookkeeping tasks: recording/classifying transactions, reconciling accounts, and reporting financial results. We’ll determine key metrics together and focus monthly reporting on those. If other accounting services are what you need - accounting clean-up, recording complex transactions, payroll, invoicing, accounts payable, budgeting, sales tax, cash flow - we do that too.
It’s currently a 1-person shop run and managed by me, a CPA with a career’s worth of experience in audit, financial services, and corporate controllership. My wife Natalie, who also has a career’s worth of finance and accounting experience, will also be stepping in from time to time.
Pricing is customized based on volume of transactions, complexity, and scope of services. Core services are a flat fee, generally ranging from $300-$1,500/month, with other services billed at an hourly rate of $95-150/hour.
We reassess initial pricing with you after a 3 month period.
If you already have an accounting system, we can generally obtain access and continue our work there. If you don’t have a system or are willing to make a change, QuickBooks Online is our go to. We will facilitate a monthly subscription to QuickBooks for you. This pricing is controlled by QuickBooks and currently costs under or around $100 a month. This system will belong solely to your business. As your accountant, Exacta will have shared access.
The most efficient way to obtain timely transaction detail is to link QuickBooks up to your bank and credit card accounts. We categorize the transactions, communicating with you when needed to ensure accuracy. For non-cash transactions like invoices and payables, we’ll streamline processes to best fit your business. We always ensure your transactions are properly categorized for proper reporting.
We generally review and record transactions on a weekly basis. For operational tasks like invoicing and accounts payable, we work with you to develop process guidelines on a case-by-case basis. The frequency your data is updated depends on the reporting frequency planned for your business.
We generally recommend monthly reporting, but this depends on your business needs. We’ll provide financial statements and reporting on the metrics that are most important to your business.
We don’t jump in until we have a thorough understanding of your business. Once we determine the scope of services, we will customize your start up plan. For our core services, the implementation process is simple and looks like this:
● Review 3 months of transaction history (bank/credit card statements)
● Establish a QuickBooks account and link bank/credit card activity.
● Set up a chart of accounts.
● Agree on process and communication protocols, and establish reporting metrics and timetables.
